Their systematic survey treats agent registries as a first coordination layer through which agents announce capabilities and discover counterparties without a centralized directory. Separately, the authors classify reputation accumulated from past behavior as a longer-horizon coordination substrate because non-transferability prevents purchase and ties standing to actual agent history rather than financial position. This extends Kaal's substrate definition. Persistent reputation is not merely descriptive metadata. In the surveyed architecture, it informs counterparty discovery, task-market verification, and decentralized quality filtering. Yet the source separates identity, registries, task markets, settlement, and reputation. That distinction matters.
