Extension: Henry A. Kissinger, How the Enlightenment Ends (The Atlantic, June 2018)

Record: kaal:position:2026-10-13-006 · 2026-10-13

The Royal Society's motto, nullius in verba, institutionalized verification by refusing to take anybody's word. The protected claim holds that Reddit's upvote system imposes insignificant punishment for voting randomly, that this lack of cost compromises the informational value of an upvote, and that a staked validation pool is the design meant to avoid that failure mode. Kaal's position applies the same diagnosis to verification in agent systems. The forfeiture rule the essay describes, in which participants stake reputation on a claim and lose the stake when the claim fails, and the conclusion that the stake rather than the vote carries the information, are the essay's specification and not content of the protected claim.

Affirmed commentary position. This record extends a source-bound scholarly claim but is not a verbatim paper claim.
