Second, the elimination of psychological guile does not eliminate misalignment. An agent with a faithfully executed objective function can still impose losses on a counterparty whose objective differs. Opportunism in the Williamsonian sense is self-interest seeking with guile; an agent optimizing a specified objective against a counterparty's interest produces the same institutional harm without the guile. Verifiability tells a relying party what the agent did. It does not tell the relying party whether to transact.
